The purpose of the Art Tech grant is to restore and sustain arts education into schools currently without arts programs by creating partnerships and investments that leverage the collective experience, wisdom, and resources of our communities. Art Tech partners, including the Oklahoma Arts Council, Osage Nation, Chickasaw Nation, and the University of Central Oklahoma, will recruit and train 30 teaching artists within school communities and develop online arts curriculum and resources. At the conclusion of the five-year grant, eight (8) hybrid courses will be implemented in partner districts, impacting approximately 20,000 students.

The goal of the project is to provide art opportunities for students who have few or no access to art classes to ensure a well-rounded education. Objectives include increasing student academic achievement in reading and math, increasing access to quality on-line arts courses, parent and student satisfaction surveys, increased sustainability, and an increase in the teaching workforce in the state. The evaluation team from the University of Oklahoma will also conduct a quasi-experimental evaluation of students who participate in the online and in-person coursework to
measure the impact of the program on student achievement in the core courses of reading and mathematics.
