The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) seeks to support small and rural agencies in their efforts to combat violent crime. Reducing violent crime in any jurisdiction requires a collaborative, evidence-informed, innovative strategy. There are a wide variety of tools and subject matter experts available to help law enforcement and key stakeholders perform this important work. However, all jurisdictions have their own challenges, stakeholders, and resources. Consequently, there is no singular or static solution to reducing violent crime; rather, broader institutional and systemic strategies need to be developed and deployed to address the underlying causes of violence.
This program will provide funding to small and/or rural agencies and/or to prosecutors who are interested in implementing or improving the capacity of their organization around one or more critical elements:

Applicants are to submit a SF-424 and SF-LLL to Grants.gov by May 15, 2024, at 8:59 PM ET. Full applications are to be submitted to JustGrants by May 22, 2024 at 8:59 PM ET. A similar deadline is anticipated annually.
Up to $6,000,000 will be available in 2024 for an estimated 15 awards. Individual award amounts may be up to $300,000. Project period is up to 36 months, beginning October 1, 2024. This solicitation does not require a match.
