    Summary

The Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act reauthorizes the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006 (Perkins) and is referred to as Perkins V. As required by Section 122(d)(1) and Section 122(d)(2) of Perkins V, the State of Mississippi's vision for education and workforce development is to ensure students graduate high school prepared for postsecondary studies and success in the workforce.

Perkins V aims to increase access to high-quality Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs that meet the changing needs of students and employers.

Perkins V gives states and local communities the opportunity to build and implement a vision for CTE that uniquely supports the range of educational needs of students — exploration through career preparation — and balances those student needs with the current and emerging needs of the economy.
