    Summary

    The purposes of the grant are to support the opening of high-performing site-based community schools, provide for more site-based community schools serving disadvantaged students where no effective options exist, and to increase accountability and autonomy for community school sponsors protecting student trust and public investment in Ohio's community schools.

    Three types of grants are available:

    1. planning subgrants, intended for groups of individuals who are developing a high-performing community school,
    2. implementation subgrants for community schools in their first and second years of operation and
    3. expansion subgrants for high-quality community schools seeking to expand.

  • Eligibility Details

    To be eligible for a planning or implementation subgrant, applicants must first conform to the federal definition of a public charter school in the Elementary and Secondary Education Act [P.L. 107-110, Section 5210(I1)]. In Ohio, public charter schools are known as community schools.     Deadline Details

    The FY21-22  Eligible Ohio community schools must submit an Intent to Apply by Monday, April 12, 2021. Application window opens in the Department's e-grant system, the Comprehensive Continuous Improvement Plan (CCIP), on Monday, April 19, 2021 and closes on Monday, May 17, 2021 at 4:59 p.m. Applications are to be submitted through the Department's online e-grant system, the Comprehensive Continuous Improvement Plan (CCIP). A similar application window is anticipated annually.

    Award Details

    Up to $100,000 is available for planning subgrants, up to $350,000 for first-year implementation or expansion grants and up to $250,000 for second-year implementation or expansion subgrants.
