    Summary

    The Foundation for Blended and Online Learning (FBOL) is proud to sponsor the Innovative Educator Grant Program. The program identifies and supports school and classroom leaders developing practices or programs to overcome achievement gaps, drive engagement, and personalize learning for their students. Awarded projects will be documented and their results and experience will be shared with education leaders working to scale new opportunities for schools and students.

    History of Funding

    Since November 2016, the foundation has awarded 30 grants across 18 states for innovative teacher-led projects to support the design and expansion of new practice and curricula providing greater access to blended and online learning opportunities in classrooms and schools across the country. These grant winners are listed on the program website.

    Additional Information

    Funds may be used for technology, professional development, curriculum, and related materials. This grant opportunity is not designed to fund hardware purchases, but to expand the reach of educators to meet the unique needs of individual students where they are on their learning journey. The funder's preference is to support creative, dynamic blended learning strategies and pilots in a variety of school settings.

    Examples of successful proposals from previous rounds of the grant program have included:
    • the development of a blended dual-language kindergarten literacy program;
    • design and integration of a blended learning experience for geography students living in a low-income farming community;
    • expansion of an open, competency-based blended math model and curriculum for 3rd grade; and
    • implementation of a blended and online learning road map for use in rural Catholic schools.
